Here is a small terrain generator/renderer in few lines of #gdscript and #glsl in #godot.
The generation part is the most basic one. The vertex shader is just a bit more complex, but not that heavy. If needed, I can provide some explanation in a more in depth post. thegodotbarn.com/contribution...

I realize now your question wasn't necessarily about how to do it for Steam / SteamOS so maybe not a helpful response 😅
The @godotsteam.com extension exposes the native steam virtual input trigger apis, so that's what we use for handling the steam deck, specifically.

Haven't checked for other platforms, but as long as you can detect steam os, it should be enough.

A game that has pretty overbearing micro transactions that I’m totally fine with is Fall Guys because if you want to spend 13 dollars to look like Iron Man as you get caught on the same fan 50 times in a row you go for it
