Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

It looks like New Yorkers just passed all three pro-housing charter amendments on the ballot. The mandate is clear: it's time to build more housing.

All YIMBY ballot measures are currently winning in NYC by 10-point margins at least

I so desperately wanted (still want) a Truth & Reconciliation Commission focused on the U.S. response to COVID-19.
Now here I am again.
I don’t know that I will live to see it, but THERE MUST BE A RECKONING for this fascist pivot.
We MUST create a space for rejection and repair to move forward.

This is the obvious absurdity of pulling ICEBlock. It is obviously legal, protected speech for anyone to say, in any forum, “I just witnessed some police activity at location X”. Indeed, people have been doing this regularly on social media since its inception.

Breaking news: ICE stops family at gunpoint—smash car window on top of newborn baby.
"I was screaming that there was a baby. But they didn’t care," cried mother.
“I covered my baby with my body—I was so scared he was going to be hurt because glass was landing on him."

Probably dumb as hell to publish this on a Friday afternoon, but the clock is ticking to get @gavinnewsom.bsky.social to sign SB 79. Please share — and, if you're a Californian, please call the governor's office at (916) 445-2841 to ask for his signature. publiccomment.blog/p/newsom-s-f...

We are not out of the woods on SB 79.
Los Angeles NIMBYs have lost their minds over the prospect of more homes being built near taxpayer-funded transit stations.
Sadly, the Governor might be listening to them.
Please make the call: cayimby.org/call-sb-79/

"Vote Blue no matter who" is what you do at the final stage.
What many don't seem to understand (and what's frustrating) is that there's a lot of work to do LONG BEFORE that final vote is cast.
Those who only show up every four years are (intentionally or not) part of the problem.

Maaaaaaaaan, SO MANY leftists & progressives in the replies and QTs who simply cannot take the fucking W. Also, I hate to break it to y'all who live in a parallel universe where Obama is hated, but he's literally the most popular man in the US every year running for two decades. This is fine, y'all.
In a lengthy call in June, Obama congratulated Mamdani, offered him advice about governing and discussed the importance of giving people hope in a dark time.
Others in Obama’s orbit have also shown a keen interest in Mamdani, too.

You've probably been hearing a lot about budget bills, environmental reviews, and labor fights out here on the West Coast. It's all adding up to probably the biggest policy change in modern California history. Here's a breakdown for the perplexed.

the thing about mamdani is that i think stuff like free fares, city run grocery stores, and rent freezes are, at best, useless policies
it's just i also think given the state of nyc they're basically harmless, and if he can get upzoning over the finish line the rest doesn't matter

on Mamdani's city-run groceries idea, "laboratories of democracy" are one of the great U.S. strengths - even if you don't think it's likely to work, it's really interesting to see it tested. Maybe it'll be really successful! Maybe it'll fail for reasons we don't expect!

A lot of takeaways from Zohran’s DSA-powered win but one of them is that liberals are not the problem. The liberals voted Zohran (or Brad and also ranked Zohran). It’s reactionary centrists that ran the disgraceful race-bating campaign.

All three (overlapping!) groups got a powerful boost last night.
