🪇 So what's everyone using to make sound effects for their games? I don't mean simple bonks and zinks, but more complex, layered effects.

Packs are an option, of course, but even then you might need to mix things up (and also you might need to go through a lot of packs).

I'm perpetually sad that the audio server in Godot is not on the same level of usability as other servers. For a brief period of time we had an audio maintainer who was refactoring everything, but then there was none, and you are still bound to use nodes for everything. Heavy, verbose nodes.

Did Vince Gilligan really make a series about ever so helpful sycophants taking over the planet?

👑 So I thought: I'm playing a cool game, I'm liking these elements of the cool game, maybe I should write something about this cool game?

So here's my very train-of-thought-y write-up on SWORN:

Despite the abundance of night, or otherwise dark, scenes, Del Toro's Frankenstein is perfectly vibrant and clear during home viewing. I dunno if Netflix puts special care in compression for their main pieces, but I'm going to say it's the visual mastery of Del Toro and his DP which are key.

Hey! Thinking about making a little free claw machine game with pixel art from different artists (16x16 or 8x8). Just checking if you'd be interested in contributing? Everyone gets credited, just a fun side project. No pressure! #pixelart

I’m super proud to announce my next solo project 👇

Lexispell is a cozy roguelike word game with a physics twist 👀

Merge letters, pick cool upgrades and spell long words ✨

I hope you’ll like this small game, sharing this post and wishlisting on Steam would help me a ton 🙏

End of Japanese community at Mozilla due to use of AI. The community members have expressed disappointment and frustration that their long term volunteer efforts and local knowledge were being replaced by machine translation, which they felt did not match the quality of human provided support

Providing a 32-bit Windows version of Bosca Ceoil Blue costs me nothing, except for an occasional comment from a distressed user who gets a false positive from their AV over some binary fingerprint match 🫤

Isn't it a silly situation when you make something default because "so many people like it", completely ignoring that those who don't like, don't use, or don't care won't be actually running around and being loud about how much they don't like or don't care for it?

How a new editor style is any better than old... I personally don't know.

Huh, apparently "hidden" files (or rather just files prefixed with a period) don't count!

Wait, you can use emojis there? I mean, makes sense. Clever extra flair, Greenheart Games!

🏃🏃‍➡️ Might not look like much, but it is probably the longest and most complex tween'd animation that I have (or rather 1 of 3 variations of it).

Orchestrating objects from different parts of the game world so they move in sync with each other is not a straightforward task, at least for me.

I can't shake off the feeling that we're leaking our creativity as the industry pivots towards high fidelity solutions. With one "make photorealism in 2 clicks at scale" engine there is no room to focus on details.

Tweening on an object you are already tweening on may lead to very tweensical results (and hard to figure out bugs).

Merging your photo, vector, and layout editors into one app is a peculiar move by Affinity/Canva. These are largely separate workflows, and even within those workflows old apps already had separate major modes to further specialize them.

Then again, same company hopes AI money will sustain them.

A quick exercise: How to reveal text in a RichTextLabel one character at a time without breaking bbcode, in Godot?

My idea: wrap entire text in a custom "effect" and hide characters using color alpha/transform scale based on their index. Strikethrough presents a problem, but workable otherwise!

This is such a bogus warning. And I honestly don't know what I'm supposed to do with it.

First of all, why would that even be the case. Offsets already handle cases where size doesn't align with the anchor rect. And second of all, nothing actually breaks upon ready as far as I can tell.
