A game(ttrpg) will always take on its own life in the hands of people who play it. Plus, whatever you put in a book can never be exhaustive. But all in all, I think that’s the beauty of ttrpgs: they are such a creative endeavor, creating AND playing them, that it’s a really interesting art form!

Also: I reject out of hand that the rule book should give you a complete understanding of how a game works. The rule book can get you really far, but everything takes time and practice. An AP helps you cut down that time and practice.
