I know Warhammer 40k is an odd reference and problematic for many reasons, but I still think the image of tech priests serving the machine god fits very well: They trade everything, even human existence, for knowledge of technology. It's not an academic discourse, it's too often a war of faith they monger. I've seen it so many times and experienced myself, I'm afraid it's just a cult and should be treated as such. Some lack to display basic academic rigor when defending AI in academia, esp in teaching. I'm so sad this happens

and they tend to claim you just wouldn't understand AI enough and it's marvelous wonders doing or in near-future™️. You may be into that tech for 10+ years, you may even have such a professorship or coming straight out of Google AI, and yet they're entitled to lecture you.

I'd argue, they do know and they do not care because it's not about nudity or profanity or anything alike, it's about power over women in society. And because AI gf are not women, there's nothing to reign. Plus, they propagate, incubate, and accelerate that incel-ish misogynistic behaviour anyhow

Um, welding robots are being AI "enhanced" now for quite some years in automotive industry. They do not even need a human supervision while welding the parts of your car anymore, so manufacturers can fire even those people

I am glad others actually can do that research, and even write their a PhD about it. I find it so disgusting what these apps are doing, propagating, capitalising of. I'm afraid I myself couldn't keep enough scientific distance to the field. I'd be all day in rage and despair about it

Thanks. I am also looking forward to read that. What you point out is a crucial point. Imho those apps are incel accelerators, incubating and enforcing misogynistic views as trial behaviour (not sure if I translated that correctly, in German media science, it's called Probehandeln)

vielleicht geht es zu den Anfängen des ARPAnet zurück. Maschinen, die mit Maschinen kommunizieren. Ich weiß gerade nicht, wie viel Internet, also vornehmlich am WWW-Teil, unsere Gesellschaft wirklich vermissen würde
