Dealing with your business only during day hours is not the slightest defense against vampires...

(Likewise, silver bullets as a way to kill werewolves was concocted by Hollywood, & werewolves couldn't care less about silver bullets...) /2

You don't know the half of it.

The Way We Were: He's WASPy & conservative. She's Jewish & radical. They're young & in love, & you're out four bucks.

Cabaret: Life is a cabaret - dull, way too long, & full of Nazis.

Those are the ones that stuck with me...

I think it's more that it's those two who are happier - what they most want throughout is to be together, & as vampires they can be, w/o other obligations, & clearly that, in their case, solves other hungers as well, unlike other vampires...

It's just that Leigh's films are mostly about people trapped in their miserable little lives finally being forced to admit they're in miserable little lives & nothing will change that. It's a very English take. (I'm not suggesting they're bad movies...)

But virtually every threat in that film was laughably beyond their reach, &, for me, the message wasn't the touchy-feely intervention, it was how they sold out to the villain in the end, to massage their own egos. (& WTF was that chase scene that totally neuters them?)

Agreed on Sinners. Acting was generally terrific. It's also about staying in your safe spaces, tho', which is a tad retrograde. Script was a bit bumpy, but the payoff was worth the ride.
