I have a natural aversion to teams that move cities, though I've become a fan of the Memphis (nee Vancouver) Grizzlies basketball team. There are no Grizzlies in Tennessee.

Indeed; and corporate interests can completely override fan sentiment with relatively little upset beyond the cities concerned. Ice Hockey is especially messy.

A nice bit of brutalist architecture with the UCL Institute of Education popping up as a location in episode 5.

“a newly formed Merged Club will generally be placed in the lower of the league Steps (tiers within the football pyramid) at which the two or more original clubs finished the season when they applied to merge.” So they’d be in League 1 assuming that either of them is relegated.

It’s a fiction to say that relocations are “easy”. Baltimore fans still hate that they lost the Colts to Indianapolis, the Cleveland Browns owner never went back to the city after announcing team would move to Baltimore. Ditto Houston fans who loath the Tennessee Titans (the ex-Houston Oilers).

Oakland has lost the Raiders, the A’s and the Warriors - the whole city feels the pain. There’s particular hatred for the A’s ownership for not investing in the team and stadium and selling out the city and their fans by moving the franchise to Las Vegas.

Yet the ECB thought that Gloucestershire and Somerset fans should get behind a Hundred franchise based in Cardiff with the word “Welsh” in the name. So we are not immune to corporate stupidity.

I think it would be equally unthinkable for the Giants and Jets, or the Cubs and White Sox, to merge. They may be in different conferences or leagues, but the local rivalry is strong.

I like traditional even if it’s dumb!

Nope. Thanksgiving games should always be Detroit and Dallas.

But he says there’s only one such in Soho; I’m assuming he means Bar Bruno. The only other one I can think of nearby is the Little Portland, which is in Fitzrovia.

A restaurant review that doesn’t name the restaurant?

The Jewellery and the Glass galleries are probably my favourite rooms. The V&A is fabulous; we’re members and visit several times a year.

The traffic noise must be insane (he says from a village of 200 people without street lights).

He was such a cult hero I was surprised that he only played 22 games for Notts.
