Reform targeting children is disgusting. Most children who don’t yet speak English become completely bilingual very quickly. I’ve seen kids going from not speaking any English to outperforming their peers a few years later. Being bilingual has amazing cognitive benefits.

1/ Good turnout at the St Andrews Rally & March. Good also to see @johnswinney.bsky.social marching & speaking abt Scotland being inclusive & undivided. I had a quick chat to raise my concerns about #racist protests outside school with him too. As always we need robust action, not just words.

We know the kinds of conversations that would have happened in the homes of these people over the weekend that their own children will be exposed to. Schools and the education system as a whole must confront #racism and be proudly #antiracist in everything they do. It's already gone too far.
Absolutely disgraceful and reminds me of the scenes in the US when Ruby Bridges had to be accompanied to school, as the first Black child to go to an all white school and was faced by protests from white mothers - disgusting.
