People often bring their old costumes to the event, but Waggoner insists on washing and repairing them himself before giving them out the following year. "I don't want them to feel like they just got hand-me-downs," he said. "I want them to be as close to new as possible." Waggoner uses a dog brush to comb out costumes with fake fur, and he soaks wigs in fabric softener, which he said makes the fibers relax for easier detangling. He spends nearly $5,000 a year on storage for the costumes. While restoring thousands of costumes can be tedious, Waggoner said it's worth it. He often dyes costumes to give them a different look.

This reminded me to check out the FTN playoff picture, and I saw something interesting. WSH has higher DAVE but trails PHI in each playoff category except SB Win. Odd, but I figured that's just how the sim's dice rolled. Then I noticed the exact same with DET (higher-DAVE) vs. SF. What causes that?

I haven’t had anything worse than strong gusts while landing but just heard a wild story this morning on DC radio that one of the Sports Junkies read from his daughter’s overnight texts. No, no bueno. From the transcript:
Radio transcript 1 of 4: I wanted to start off reading a couple texts from my daughter. When you get a text at 3:46 a.m., it's a little worrisome. It's alarming, yeah, that time of morning. And the first sentence, when I read it, was complete disaster. And then she said, it's funny, you can tell it on the air. So my daughter was going to fly to Berlin, that's in Germany, not Berlin, Maryland. Okay, yeah, way different. One of her best friends, Kelsey is a big runner, is a Radio transcript 2 of 4: marathoner as well, and she was going to run the Berlin Marathon. And Kelsey was going to surprise her in Berlin and show up to support her. So she got on a plane yesterday, and she said, I noticed this girl to be rude to a flight attendant once the flight started, saying not to touch her bitch. Oh, nice. Couple hours later, about to doze off when I hear people running, turns out the same girl spit on and attacked the stewardess and started running through the aisle Radio transcript 3 of 4: trying to open the emergency exit. Oh, mega life tilt, if that ever happens. Two big men on my flight had to tackle her. Every flight attendant and the two big men are trying to hold her down. I'm three rows behind her where this is happening. She's screaming, help me, help me for five minutes, going nuts. They finally restrain her. She gets loose, starts hitting and punching everyone. Then they get her again and Radio transcript 4 of 4: she's screaming, no. After 10 minutes, they finally restrain her. They take her to the back of the plane, 45 minutes go by. The pilot makes an announcement that she's difficult to restrain and that the safest option is to emergency land. The flight attendant was saying she wouldn't stop screaming and trying to get loose. So my daughter who was heading to Berlin and was gonna stop in Frankfurt as the connecting flight as she left LA is now at a small airport in Northern Canada.

Interesting to see a thinly veiled plea by Alford to be called for testimony at a Tunney hearing on the HP/Juniper merger:
In his Aspen speech, Alford goes even further, directly accusing senior DOJ officials of corruption: "Although I am limited in what I can say, it is my opinion that in the HPE/Juniper merger scandal Chad Mizelle and Stanley Woodward perverted justice and acted inconsistent with the rule of law. I am not given to hyperbole, and I do not say that lightly. As part of the forthcoming Tunney Act proceedings, it would be helpful for the court to clarify the substance and the process by which the settlement was reached. Although the Tunney Act has rarely served its intended purpose, this time the court may demand extensive discovery and examine the surprising truth of what happened. I hope the court blocks the HPE/Juniper merger. If you knew what I knew, you would hope so too. Someday I may have the opportunity to say more."

It’s freaky how much the sledgehammers resemble the marching hammers from The Wall, an album/movie seeded by Roger Waters’s disaffection from fans that shows a lonely, purposeless young man’s descent into delusional fantasies of leading a fascist movement.

WILKINSON, Circuit Judge: Edward Joseph Walsh, III was riding his lawn mower when he was struck and killed by an underinsured motorist. Walsh had underinsured motorist (UIM) coverage on two personal automobiles insured by Owners Insurance Company. After Owners paid benefits equal to the UM coverage limits for a single covered automobile, Walsh's estate sought to stack the UIM coverage from the other. Owners asserted that stacking was unavailable and, in the declaratory judgment action that followed, the district court agreed. Because we find that neither South Carolina law nor the terms of the policy entitled the insured to stack coverage under these circumstances. we affirm.

I’ve seen that and love it, too! You might already know, but Tom puts some kind of message on most of his stage guitars in honor of Woody Guthrie, who wrote “This machine kills fascists” on his guitars starting in WWII. Somehow still relevant in 2025.
