The most impressive thing about Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness isn't the environment design, or double battles, or Shadow Pokemon, it's that the fight theme you hear for 85% of the game (Cipher Peon Battle) is a 40 second loop but never feels like it or grows dull.

the doll is an aspirational figure for in its emptiness it experiences no pain. the doll is a tragic figure, for it mirrors the trauma of its owner that has rendered her too empty to see anything more as possible but not so empty that the pain would be gone

I wish all these trans making emotionless doll stories could have played more happily. A doll is a young girl's friend who she can make up stories about, and who gets married to and divorced from other dolls. not an emotionless cold vessel... this is the trauma, again, isn't it.
