I think that depends significantly on the franchise you're talking about. Itsuno directed way more of Devil May Cry than Kamiya, and after the mess of DMC2 (which he was brought on last minute to try and save) they were all bangers.

I mostly keep thinking how Mickey being shirtless in kh1 must be because Disney didn't let them fuck with his design and it must have been such a Herculean effort to get the Organization hood & Nomura-ass leather zip-up jacket designs approved for the later games
