there wasn’t much of a grand adult awakening. i came of age fully knowing that the president hated people like me. i would estimate that relatively few young people of color expect good things from the US

i would also like to add that i was aware of blm at around age 11-12. from a pretty early age i was aware that police were racist + so was the candidate for pres. if you’re under ~25 and grew up relatively online there’s not much that’s surprising anymore imo

pretty much ever since i was aware of politics i’ve been hearing about trump’s bullshit. explicit racism from politicians was not hypothetical or taboo it was basically the norm since 2016 (when i was 12-13)

Fuck you. It was a temporary moment in time when people decided, for the first time, that 20 women were finally equal to one man.

People put their careers on the line to try to get enough people out there that their combined voices would maybe, eventually weigh as much as the voice of one man who had been ruining careers for decades.
