Yup. It's just he's really bad at it while posingas a kind of pseudo-intellectual 'refugee' from the left. His last column contained lines so breathtakingly stupid that they appear to have just popped out of his head and on to the page without thinking "hang on,have I thought this through."

That's not the point. It's an analogy. The point is that Farage's contemporaries do remember his behaviour as out of the ordinary. A la if someone was a big druggie rather than, say, trying the odd spliff, that would stand out. Farage seems to have stood out as particularly foul.

Farage though is accused of worse than that though. If he'd just said the odd slur like kids often did/do when don't know any better there'd be no story, and school contemporaries would not have strong memories of him having stood out as a piece of work.
