i've still not gotten over the folks who were incensed by the eurogamer 2/5 of Arc Raiders, perceiving it as a precision strike act of violence against the game's metacritic score
A resetera post. Deliberately tanking the metacritic and opencritic of the game because you have a moral stance against one thing it does is such a low low thing to do. This was the second highest rated game of the year with EX33 on opencritic and now its not even in the top 10. Apart from negative attention this is going to receive, I'm guessing Embark will say something negative about this. And it'll become the poster child for the people who generally disparage review scores. For people who agree with this, keep in mind it changes no one's opinions, it usually results in people doubling down. But with AI, doubling down is going to happen regardless as the tech improves. AI isn't NFT, its not going anywhere. I think there are two separate issues here which is causing a rift between people who are okay with the review and those that take issue with it. Sure the reviewer is entitled to give the game a poor score for a single element like AI voices, and whether that justifies the score being a 2/5 is one matter of debate. What is another issue is a 2/5 deliberately dragging down the Metacritic score as a sort of "protest vote" and the review outlet knowing ahead of time that their protest review will drag down the Metacritic score. This incentivizes protest reviews to drive revenue to the site as it's a contrarian take, or serves as a form of protest activism from the reviewer or outlet themselves to make sure their opinion is heard. If you ask me, a method to remove outlier scores from a Metacritic overall score, or a strike system against outlets who exhibit protest review behavior from Metacritic as a website would solve this issue, but I'm not sure if that will happen.

Another Christopher Dring tweet Astro Bot's UK sales (physical-only so far) aren't huge. Opening week is about a third lower than 2021's Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, but I expect a longer sales tail for Astro. It's certainly sold more copies in the UK in just 2 days than Concord sold worldwide To clarify, Astro Bot's UK sales are good. This isn't the sort-of game that would ever do mega week 1 figures. These games often sell over time. To offer some comparison. Astro Bot's week 1 in the UK is bigger than Sonic Frontiers' and Crash 4's debut, and they're multiplatform

The opening spread from chapter 76 of Hope You're Happy, Lemon. Offscreen, Sunao says to Kogahara "When we went to the movies, the person inside of me... was Lemon."
