yeah so basically one of the cognito hazards of presenting at conventions is that you get these puzzle piece tiles. don’t get the ones with wood grain. you will find yourself trying to match all the grain on the edges. you’ll blink and then it’s dark outside. there is no system to make it easier
a foam tile for comfortably standing, and the edge that fits into that tile to make it flush. the tiles have grain like wood grain. i have a migraine i’m sorry about this alt text. i watched basically all of season three of The Diplomat with sunglasses on. right so the wood grain, the edge bit—i guess i would calm it the frame of the tile, it has its own grain that, in this picture, is perpendicular to the tile grain. but it gets worse, the grain is different on all the tiles so that each rim tile only works with one tile base. you feel me?

there are so many of these quiet inclusions of pure diesel all over this project. one super plunderable thing is that each region has a short tone poem at the top, like here:

a cool part in poetry is that your title is included in the poem.
in rpg design, think about abilities, picklists, and roll tables like poems, and experiment with the title and subtitle. for example, look at this picklist from @jedediahberry.bsky.social and @andrewmcalpine.bsky.social.

i decided to do the hardest possible conversion, in which i made a scale hexmap of the Valley of Flowers, placed the pointcrawl locations into that hexmap, and then put myths on the remote empty hexes of the land, sort of "bridging the cards" between both games.
a stretched and squashed version of the Valley of Flowers map converted into hexes, using the HexKit tool and the Highland Paranormal Society's hex art.
