I am undecided whether, it might make it harder for the EU to reduce security dependency on the US given the combination of dependency, unreliability of the US, imminent threat. On the other hand, it would buy more time to ramp up on a EU based military-industrial complex

It would certainly defang the EU’s current security dependence on the US, that has been leveraged against the EU, along the trade dimension. Might improve relations with China too.

Sigh… I wish we could speed run this part. Maybe the UK should overpay on this deal and subsequent deals in order to be able to make the case (on the side of a bus ) that joining the EU will save us money to spend on the NHS

I guess it makes the cost of membership seem more appealing for existing members. It reinforces that full membership is the only option with real value.

The 'circular' investments linked to OpenAI strike me as a Kaleckian capex flywheel with the twist that hyperscalers are investing in the very demand for the inputs that they sell
November 18, 2025 at 3:58 PM
I can't help but see the AI associated capex boom through a Kaleckian lens. Up until recently, the build out was funded through internal funds of the hyperscalers. The Wicksellian channel may very well apply to firms in competitive sectors.

If anything, it highlights how we must redouble our collective efforts

I am sure it is a super clever ploy to ensure that Russia doesn’t have the opportunity to learn and adapt to our legions of hunter killer pigeons and our other highly effective counter drone tactics which would be useful in a hot war.

What are some of the bangers that you are playing?

I was thinking a bond market vigilante and go and knock on the doors of the French and UK governments
