For me it was this. We had a PT system at film school but it was catching dust most of the time. The Akai was pretty cool. Sort of my Nagra of DAWs.

2 downsides of the T7 shield:
1) NOTHING (absolutely nothing) will stick to the silicone rubber so they are tricky to label.
2) the USB-C ports are extremely loose. The cable (and I tried many of them) doesn't really click in and slips out very easily. Here's a hack for that but sad for a 300€ drive

Black Friday survival kit quoted from "The Foley Grail". Buy stuff because you need it, not just because it's cheap. Resist FOMO, don't waste resources on stuff you don't need (even if it's a plugin for 5$, give those 5$ to charity instead!). Less plastic flown around the globe for unused stuff.
