Consummate eye-roller. Purveyor of snark & sarcasm. Lady in the streets, freak in the spreadsheets. Foodie. Lapsed political activist. That HR person you've been warned about. No tankers. No pipelines. No problems.
Naturally the kids wanted to know WHY it was called Santa Meat.

"You know why there is no Santa? He was ground up into sausages. He used to be real, but now he's sandwich meat. Try some!"

Naturally, they did not relish trying it.

Santa Meat is delicious, and I am unrepentant.

'Scared' might not be the right word for what my daughters feel about paprika #fleishwurst. Traumatized is more accurate.

You see, when they were little, I told them it was called Santa Meat (it has red and green peppers throughout, very festive.) 🪡/2

Behold the German Santa Meat:

This. I went 47 years without a cavity or filling, and suddenly I had to have four of them a few months ago. Never mind that out of nowhere I also need my gums resected. FUN!

...the NDP can target Quebec. The next leader needs to focus on building up the organization. Don't talk about being the next prime minister. #cdnpoli

I picture the NDP leadership candidates as being interim candidates. Their goal is not to form the next government, but to build up the party. They may not reach out to Quebeckers right now. They can start building their base in 24 extra seats in English Canada. The following election... #cdnpoli

People are debating whether he's playing smart political chess, or capitulating to the fossil fuel sector, but the other option here is that this is just what he wants to do and is using the political moment we're in to ram his vision through any opposition to it.

I'm a big forager for food plants in the wild. The Fraser Valley has a lot of uncultivated hazelnuts along the logging roads, as well as wild strawberries, the usual suspects like blackberries, hucks, blues. Chantrelles. I make pesto and tea with stinging nettles. Salves with wild plantain.

The snow berries along this trail are prolific, and I don't think most people know they have medicinal value, as they are not edible for humans. They were used by local indigenous ppl as a soap/shampoo. They are highly anti-microbial, a disinfectant, sootge rash/burns, anti-parasitic.
