Clovie Garden white currants got some TLC now the rain has stopped. Cut out the dead wood and trimmed and opened up the centre for good healthy growth next year.

A good shift this morning with the crew in the Calders Greenshoots Garden. We’ll be back on Tuesday morning to kick on some more. It’s now going to be a combined solar power / potting bench system. 👌Made possible with a Community Grant from @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social 🙏

Reported all these overflowing bins outside Canal View Primary. A very grim welcome to primary school. One of the bins has a notice behind it warning about control of rodents and to be careful. This is beginner level fail on rat control. 👎🏼 @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social

As part of ‘World of Work Week’ our head gardener Alan spent the afternoon with four primary classes at Canal View talking about his job, his life, meta-skills, and career path to date. Alan really enjoyed engaging with the pupils who asked so many great questions he could have stayed all day. ❤️

Progress rigging up the solar harvesting unit and gubbings this morning with the crew in the Calders Greenshoots Garden. Perfect weather for it. 👌. Even more impressive was Ricky’s home made peanut butter cookies 🍪 and banana bread. ❤️

It would be really good news for many if this bid is successful. It’s a compelling bid brought together at very short notice & shows the community is ready for investment. There is a lot that can be delivered, consultations already done, plans ready, & mechanisms for delivery ready. 🤞

Good news we received today is that planning permission has been granted for the development of the community micro-hub next to the Greenway Garden on the Murrayburn side. Thanks to everyone who commented, both positively and those who raised concerns. 🙏 Work now continues on funding the project.

Started the day requesting CEC empty full local bin/remove firework leftovers from greenspace, tidying up beds in the garden, finding potatoes & turnips, and finishing the badger seat

Still lots of flowers bring some late season joy as we start tidying up the Clovie garden for winter. Lots of healthy green veg and we sent some to the Sunflower Pantry this morning.

Starting with the lads today in the Calders Greenshoots garden bringing some improvements over the winter months on a Tuesday. Shed upgrades, water harvesting upgrades, solar harvesting system, storage upgrades and more. Lots to do!

Tom brought us the compost worms and bedding materials to make at home in our new Greenway Garden wormery that Tom and Ricky made reality. We’ll be feeding them regularly and looking forward to some top grade worm compost and tea as they work their magic. 🪱🪱🪱🪱
