I found this season of Strange New Worlds kind of pitchy and disappointing. I think the problem is that Star Trek used to be about something—philosophy or science or baseball or whatever. Now it’s just about Star Trek.

"Gavin Newsom is America's Keir Starmer" is perhaps the most devastating thing that has ever been or could ever be said about an American.
Seeing people in the US of States glazing Newsom's dank memes and being all "Gavin slayyyy" is giving Starmer Fever 2024 and, American pals, it's equally embarrassing to witness.

I visited #iran in 2019. It is a breathtakingly beautiful country with some of the warmest and most compassionate people I have ever met. Seeing the destruction in Teheran is heartbreaking.

I won't have a kind word for the regime, but as usual, it's the people who suffer for its follies.

'The sports car is back!' proclaimed Mazda at the launch of the new MX-5, and it really did seem like a seminal moment: the reinvention of the of the traditional roadster driving experience, combined with the build quality and reliability of the 1990s. This is the first UK brochure. #weirdcarbs

I know opinions on this movie were mixed but I think it's great, and considering the news this weekend, hopefully not prescient.

The reason BotW is a masterpiece and the reason is is one of the FEW open world games that is actually good is that it is so hand-crafted! It's a generous, excessive huge pile of good times. Every single NPC has really cute, specific little bits of text that pop. C'mon people

The Monaco #F1 Grand Prix weekend: a thrilling rally stage on Saturday followed by a parade on Sunday.

Here's a thought: take it off the race calendar and replace it with a non-street proper racetrack; then let the drivers take part in the Historic Monaco GP if you still want the legacy connection.

I’ve said many times that I am a better person for having read Discworld, and it’s true

if you’re going to base your morality off a book you could hardly do better than Pratchett
It's fascinating to see from these pulled quotes, over and over again, how much of my worldview and social philosophy was guided (maybe even formed) by reading Pratchett in my 20s. He should be required reading. Especially the Vimes series.
