Disabled cyclists were able to relay to councillors and other representatives what cycling means for them, and about the barriers they face. The photo shows Disabled cyclists engaging with Civic Mayor Cllr Richard Chatterjee and Deputy Civic Mayor Cllr Mohammed Islam about the experience of cycling.

Wheels for Wellbeing put on a led ride for Disabled participants to cycle to the event. It provided a great opportunity not only for Disabled cyclists to be part of the occasion, but also to enable conversation.

Cycling is for all and we are stronger for our diversity. Wheels for Wellbeing have a diverse staff team, are proud to join the Pride Ride and echo others in calling for @cyclinguk.bsky.social to reconsider their decision next year.

We are however disappointed at the exclusion this year of the many trans and non-binary individuals who contribute hugely to our communities.

While we are disappointed the list isn’t as inclusive as it could be (cycling is for all and there are plenty of trans and non-binary individuals who have contributed to this space), we would like to congratulate everyone who made it onto the list.

Thank you for your kind words 😊.
Yes, we're very much working on this fast growing and hugely concerning issue 😕.

Whatever your use of pedals or cranks, we've written this letter and this guide for space managers to support your right to use your mobility aid at pedestrian speeds in pedestrian spaces.
December 3, 2025 at 12:01 PM
But we need to be able to use our aids to get to and around the places we want to.

So, our IDPD gift this year is to all Disabled people who use cycles as their mobility aids - or would like to!

From Stephan Farffler's invention of the handcycle in 1655 through to modern standing, sitting, recumbent, posture-moving, e-powered, e-assist, pedalled, off-road, stair-climbing and even remote controlled aids, there are so many great options out there.

The compact is specially designed for smaller people with a leg length between 63 cm to 81 cm (usually height of about 1.40 to 1.70 metres) and has the added advantage of a narrower width and smaller turning circle which makes it great to manoeuvre and easy to store.

Like the Standard model with its comfortable seat and chair-like backrest, its perfect for those who want a bit more support when they are riding. The forward situated pedals and handle bar configuration take some of the strain out of joints and the low step through makes it easy to access.
