Great to celebrate the imminent opening of another new shop in Bury St Edmunds - Adams will officially open on Wednesday. Judging by the number of people passing by who tried the door and checked the opening times, they're in for a busy time of it!

It's a great budget for the country, and especially for working people, those with children, and young people. And also for pensioners. And small business. The right wing media will howl on tomorrow's front pages, of course. They'd rather see Britain fail than admit a Labour government's success!!

Rachael Reeves's budget has done more to back local people than 14 years of Conservative chaos ever did. I'm pleased and proud to be a member of the party that has done all this and more.

West Suffolk Council is doing its best to work with Newmarket Town Council over the market, but silly posturing by certain Conservative councillors makes it hard to progress. We'll continue to be the grown ups in the room.

Great to be at the launch of West Suffolk Council's new mobility scooter scheme. Our new partner is EcoCarriers, a not- for- profit local group who already provide ecologically sound transport options around Bury St Edmunds.

I joined the deputy mayor of Bury St Edmunds at the launch of Plug In Suffolk's Car Club today. Funded by all the leaders of Suffolk's councils, this is a trial for 18 months initially. Car clubs are a useful addition to the whole transport ecosystem, and can be a great alternative to owning a car.

Farage wants to make £275 million of cuts. So every day from now on, and in every constituency, ReformUK should be asked which hospital, which school and which public service will be the first to be cut or closed.

Great evening yesterday at the Bury Free Press West Suffolk Business Awards. Great to celebrate all the wonderful businesses in West Suffolk, and an opportunity to highlight the great work West Suffolk Council does to support growth to the benefit of everyone in the district.

West Suffolk Council flying the Black History Month flag. At this time when a small minority are stirring up division and hate I'm proud my council is showing a positive message about what a great country we live in, open, loving and tolerant.

Great news to enable more students to study regardless of family wealth. As someone who trained as a teacher on a full grant, I know how important this is.

Great to see Labour cracking down on COVID fraud. Now she should be stripped of her title.

Great morning out canvassing with Labour Party Chair Ellie Reeves and local activists. Very positive vibes for Graham Creelman, Labour's brilliant candidate for the Newmarket East district council by-election.

Great vibe in Bury St Edmunds for the Food and Drink Festival. Well done to all the traders and presenters, and Our BSE and West Suffolk Council who have put on such a superb event. And for organising a dry and sunny bank holiday!

Great news for Bury St Edmunds as the new £40 million Greene King brewery takes another step forward.

My fellow councillor Indy Wijenayaka and I were at the groundbreaking ceremony for Greene King's new £40 million brewery today. An important moment in the life of the town, showing business confidence in West Suffolk and the local workforce.

Our young people are often demonised. But if there's nothing for them, we shouldn't be surprised if they get up to mischief and perhaps worse. This is a really welcome announcement that begins to address 14 years of Conservative neglect. It shows Labour cares, and takes action!

Wonderful floral displays in the Abbey Gardens yesterday. Thanks to our great West Suffolk Council staff who work with such dedication to keep it looking so lovely!

Really great at last night's Bury Town Council, where we heard presentations from Black Lives Matter and the Catholic History Trust, both strongly showing how DEI are at the heart of their work. Newly elected Suffolk CC Reform UK councillor in attendance must have been impressed...

Suffolk County Council wasting £1.9M on blatant political advertising when people are not getting care, bus services are cut and potholes are not being fixed.

Really happy to mark the opening of a new cycle storage at Bury St Edmunds station yesterday. It's a great example of system working, where West Suffolk Council, working with our regional rail provider Greater Anglia and other partners pooling resources to get things done.

Last night councillors voted for three unitary councils for Suffolk as part of our work on devolution and local government reorganisation. Good news for residents as we work to keep the Local in Local Government!

Peter Prinsley MP opening the BSE and Stowmarket constituency office yesterday. A really significant moment for Labour in the East of England, showing we're here to stay and determined to build our representation even further.

We need to keep the "local" in local government. Take the survey to share your views (link in article).
