You can't fix what's not there. When I get hung up on phrasing or pacing, I give myself permission to write either the Dick and Jane or e.e. cummings version of what's in my head. Simple subject-verb-object sentences or long run-on free verse. Just get *something* down, move on, and polish later.
Fic writers: share a piece of writing advice about something that's been working for you.
