I built a cat house this weekend. Which is to say, I built a wooden closure for a cat house made out of plastic storage bins, straw, and styrofoam. It's for a feral cat I've been feeding. This is my cat Tip trying it out. Pretty good for no plans and scrap wood.

On her way out, Val thanks them for inviting her and says it means a lot. She shakes Rob's hand then kisses Tori and says "I love you too." After Val leaves, Tori says, "God, that woman vexes me like no one else... You know what I mean, Rob! You dated her for-" Rob yells, "A fucking handshake?!"

Neither of them had ever kissed anyone before. They make out on the couch for a few hours, and Tori accidentally says out loud, "I love you, Val." Val says that Lance better not say any corny shit like that. Back at Thanksgiving dinner, Tori says that while Val didn;t know anything by it, she was so mortified that the didnt put the moves on Val again until their college years. Val says she didn't know that part and puts her hand on Tori's. Tori says it's OK, and that they got into some wild shit later. Rob asks them to tell him about the barely legal years, but Val has to get up early tomorrow...

The flashback continues. One day Val tells Tori she has a date with Lance. Sports Lance or Nerd Lance, asks Tori. Tori sees an opportunity and after discerning that Val has never kissed a boy, Tori volunteers to show her how, vastly overstating her own qualifications.

Rob, Tori, and Val are finishing up their Thanksgiving meal and Rob asks how Val and Tori met. Val says it was probably 1989, and Val and Tori alternate telling the story: They went to the same high school. Val was in smart kid classes and Tori was barely passing regular classes, but they got to know each other riding the bus. They lived a mile apart, and would hand out after school at one or the other's house every day. In a flashback, Tori vows that she will kis Val one day.

Tori apologizes to Val for sneaking out on her the previous year and Val says it's ok... they've all done weird shit during the pandemic. She never thought Tori would shack up with a dude, for example. That's when Rob walks in.

Here's a comic I drew in 2021 in which Val goes to Thanksgiving at Tori and Rob's (they lived together for a little while; it was a weird year, OK) and tells the story of her first kiss!

I consider it an important piece of the overall Val & Tori story...
