14C Dundonald Castle in sw #Scotland was the historic home of Robert II, Robert the Bruce’s grandson. Has some great events around Halloween like Movies at the Castle - Hotel Transylvania and Spooky Tours at night.

Pogerola is a small town sitting high above the #AmalfiCoast #italy with stunning views. The church of Santa Marina Vergine is one of several in the area. Not many tourists visit.

Dating from early 1400s, Castle Campbell in central #Scotland was in Clan Campbell's possession for over 200 years. Burned by Royalist Rebels in 1654, It has since been restored. No rebels were spotted the day I was there.

This is from an exhibition many years ago by Mimmo Paladino - The Witnesses - at the Oscar Niemeyer Auditorium in #Ravello above the #AmalfiCoast #italy. No dark deeds were witnessed that night.

It wouldn’t have been often that prisoners saw sunlight in the prison cells in Edinburgh Castle. No prisoners were around the day we visited the castle to take advantage of the rays.

Bothwell Castle, from late 1200s, often changed hands during the wars of independence between #Scotland and England. Partially destroyed in a siege of 1337, it was restored under the rule of Archibald the Grim. Luckily it wasn’t a grim day when I was there

This old coastal tower sitting between #Atrani and #Amalfi now houses a restaurant but it was once part of a defensive system against pirate attacks. No pirates were visible on the ship moored alongside.

The old and the new

Newark Castle in #Scotland sits on the river Clyde and dates back to 15th C. It’s neighbour is a shipyard which is taking almost as many centuries to build its latest Ferries to service the islands
