If you like a writer's work, tell them! Email, LinkedIn message, DM, even in person at an event. It can make a huge difference in their lives, especially right now with declining freelance budgets, layoffs, stagnant salaries, the threat of AI, and dwindling book advances.

Support an indie author’s review team and get to read a romance series with heart, positive representation of disability, multiple kinds of real world magic, and more. Plus Katta is awesome (and has been on the podcast twice — go listen).

So enjoyed my conversation with Judika about this book, books in general, and the worlds they open up to us.

I so enjoyed talking with Cassandra about Pollack’s influence on tarot, looking at books in context of their time, and the community of readers building on Pollack’s work.
New episode out today with the multi-talented Cassandra Snow to chat about the new collection of essays they edited, Tarot in Other Words, and Rachel Pollack’s Seventy-eight Degrees of Wisdom.

It was a treat to have @kattakis.bsky.social back on to chat about her most recent book Love at the Rock Show and Anton LaVey’s weirdly conservative ideas of femininity.
New episode out today with romance author @kattakis.bsky.social to chat about (and maybe drag) Anton LaVey’s The Satanic Witch, originally published as The Compleat Witch.

Talking with Charles is always a delight.
New episode out today with Charles Harrington to discuss The Oracle Glass by Judith Merkle Riley set during the Affair of the Poisons in the court of the Sun King, which gave us lots of room to talk about identity and persona and divination tech in fiction. #WitchSky #podcasts #books

It’s Wednesday, so here’s some witch lit* books for this week. These are from the @tangledwilderness.bsky.social kickstarter for @margaret.bsky.social ‘s third book in the Danielle Cain series. Highly recommend. (Witch lit being books I think a number of witches and occult practitioners would like)

Still hoping this will happen. Despite the world being on fire and getting over Covid.
Who knows what the world will look like when it’s time to leave for this trip but I’m still planning.

It is done. I have sent the book that has eaten the last three years of my life to my editor and am commencing collapse now. I can’t tell if it’s brilliant or absolute garbage because I’ve looked at it for so long, but it is done. At least until I get the notes back.

As always, I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Via about folk lore and magical practice.
New episode out today with author and sculptor @via-hedera.bsky.social to discuss Touch Blue (1958) a compendium of rhymes, verbal charms, and spells. Though whimsical on presentation, the bibliography packs a punch.

I am *begging* people to look up the actual history of the Luddite movement with it being bandied about everywhere.

They weren't anti-tech, they were anti-exploitation, anti-Industrialist, pro-worker safety textile worker radicals who disabled factory machines that were maiming and killing workers.
