(Let me also just interject here to say that I could give two shits about the US government "securing" their communications about war crimes and imperialist nonsense, but this is the frame the media is running with and the FUD about Signal impacts people so it's important to get the details right)

Don’t buy the maximum absorbency pads, you can just get long overnight ones. The xl super absorbent ones are more like diapers and not super comfy
