The bigger question isn’t “Why isn’t there a Contrapoints video about Palestine?” It’s “Why are we expecting her to be an authority on Palestine?” The fact that she’s approaching this issue as primarily an internet conflict just shows how unprepared her usual method is.
This has always been her limitation. She described her channel as “about the internet side of politics” which given it debuted in an era defined by Gamergate and Charlottesville made her important. But that early relevance also gave us an inflated idea of what she could and should take on…

We often conflate online discourse with leftism movements/action as a whole. Online left discourse - especially on corporate owned platforms - can be toxic, purity based & fractious. It’s why I highly encourage using online for education but push for IRL organizing and coalition building.

It’s bizarre. It’s basically an essay on why she won’t make a video about a situation when she could have simply said “I make videos about philosophy and sociology in the context of American online culture, not genocide. I don’t feel qualified to make a funny video about a topic so serious.”

Twilight is unironically a masterpiece. Contra is for interesting art, philosophy and psychology insights. Maybe political philosophy also to an extent, more so a few years ago.

I think contrapoints has been a lefty influencer since before that was really a thing, and being attacked by legitimately the most annoying people in the world for a decade can make you reactionary

i listened to the Ezra Klein/Sarah McBride interview, and her entire position revolves around a completely unproven assertion: the idea what caused the shift in polls away from trans rights is the rhetoric of the left. that might be true, but i haven’t seen any real evidence for it.
