Happy birthday to Mike Reno, born on this day in 1955 in New Westminster, BC! As the lead singer of Loverboy, he has multi-platinum albums. In 1982, the band won six Junos. In 2002, he released his first Solo Album & is a member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Today in 2017, John Dunsworth died. Born in 1946, he began acting on stage in the 1960s & created Pier One Theatre in 1970 in Halifax. He was also a casting director, helping launch the career of Elliot Page. He is most famous for his role as Mr. Lahey on Trailer Park Boys.

A brilliant actor!
Ugh, so many terrible things in the world! It's difficult to go about the everyday while it all seems to be falling apart. My heart goes out to those in the world under siege, running for their lives, trying to make it to tomorrow.

When facing the "All we need is STEM!" approach to education, my usual response is: Developing the vaccine was the STEM problem; distribution & getting shots in arms was the Social Science problem; getting people to trust it & combatting misinformation was the Humanities problem-- which did we fail?
