This post by @kenklippenstein.bsky.social is really worth a read. And a great time to remind folks that some violent actors don’t hold a strong ideology, and that the quest for fully understanding someone’s mobilization to violence rarely finds a satisfying answer in ideology or motivation.
It's pretty striking that there's no obvious indicator for radicalization.

Generally with these shooters we tend to see an obsession — with ideology, or violence, or with the cult of personality around other acts of terror. It seems, thus far, to be missing.

After her hearing at 26 Federal Plaza, a woman was detained and escorted toward the stairwell. Her husband, confused and in shock, was guided toward the exit. Minutes later, he broke down in the elevator. They entered together, but he left alone. This happens here daily. #ICE

Data from regulatory bodies can no longer be trusted under the current regime. Their food exports are going to be riddled with germs and worms and God knows what else.
A row is brewing in the US over the first human case of the flesh-eating screwworm in Maryland, Reuters reports. Agriculture officials say the CDC is not being forthcoming about the case. Screwworms normally infect livestock.

An outbreak in Texas would cost the economy more than a billion dollars.

Thank you to @jfallows.bsky.social for speaking up Kseniia Petrova.
Almost every line of this story would have been simply unbelievable a few months ago:

—Pioneering cancer researcher;
—*Arrested* at airport in Boston;
—Now indefinite ICE detention in Louisiana;
—"Crime": not declaring some frog-embryo samples for research.

Read it.

I want you to understand this is happening in our name and we know most of these men committed no crimes. One is a professional soccer player who was tortured in Venezuela and was working through asylum in the U.S. ICE shipped him for his Real Madrid tattoo and a picture throwing rock & roll horns.

Read this declaration. A professional soccer player has been imprisoned in El Salvador and forced into hard labor on the basis of soccer-related tattoos and a single, innocent hand gesture.

This is why the administration is withholding due process. It knows its targets could prove their innocence.

Some updates on our client:

@immdef.bsky.social went to his imm court hearing Monday and received confirmation from ICE that he has been “removed” to El Salvador. The Judge asked “how has he been removed if there is no removal order?” And the ICE attorney responded that they did not know.
Posting tonight ti shine a light on what the Alien Enemies Act looks like IRL. Our @immdef.bsky.social client fled Venezuela last year & came to US to seek asylum. He has a strong claim. He was detained upon entry because ICE alleged his tattoos are gang related. They are absolutely not. 🧵
