I’m sad to share that starting Sept 15, I’ll be pausing unsolicited queries through the end of the year 💙 I’m still happy to consider referrals or connect at a conference or pitch events. Thanks for understanding!
There’s a reason I can’t walk past a tiny desk gong without laughing. I’ll leave it at that. ...Unless you preorder the Classroom Confidential Anthology...then you'll know why. 😬

“What does my character want?” is good. “What do they fear losing?” is better.

Dialogue hack: let one line hang awkwardly. People interrupt, trail off, repeat. Real speech is messy.

This is your reminder that literary agents are just people. We aren't always right, and we certainly aren't perfect. I mean, if you've met me in person, you know how weird I am. 😅

“Show, don’t tell” doesn’t mean “never tell.” It means to find the balance.

When F-flat Books asked for real classroom stories, I thought, “Sure! How bad could mine sound on paper?”
...Reader, it’s bad.
But funny.

I'm not sure if I'll be reopening to queries in the new year publicly. But while that piece is still up in the air, I'm always open via referral, pitches at conferences/events, or online pitch events, etc.

When I taught music, I’d tell kids: mistakes mean you’re trying. Funny how adults forget that part.

Small craft tip: if your character’s just pacing and thinking… make them do something. Even spilling coffee can change the scene’s energy.

I don’t outline because I’m organized. I outline because if I don’t, my plot turns into spaghetti. 🍝

There’s one story from my teaching days that still makes me sweat and laugh every time I think about it. Now it’s part of a new anthology from F-flat Books called Classroom Confidential.
Preorders are open and trust me, mine’s… unforgettable. 😅

I get asked all the time "why can't you represent yourself?" And it's not a short answer:
Why I Can’t Represent Myself (Even Though I’m a Literary Agent)

Home from SCBWI's Halloweekend conference and had a BLAST! I love virtual events, but there's something about in-person ones that are just...magical. ✨
