Local school board is having a meeting on "safely introducing AI to schools."

Oh. I am going. And you better believe I will quietly voice my opinion, let people speak over me, say "I work with AI for my job," while people ignore me. And if anyone yells at me I will cry. You have to get involved!

There’s also the thing where putting aside the fact there’s no way it could do what is claimed, exposing yourself to shit you don’t like is part of how you develop your taste.

A bad piece of media can be edifying in its own way. Depriving yourself of that turns you incredibly basic.
"Imagine a world in which an A.I. can analyze your reading patterns and alert you that you’re about to buy a book where there’s only a 10 percent chance you’ll get past Page 6..."

Fuck off. That's not empowerment, that's outsourcing your soul. That's outsouling.

Its so stark how if you're over 30ish you grew up in a world that idolised - & I mean fully *worshipped as a bedrock cultural law* - the idea that you should challenge yourself/become something better by trying something new... & now advertising-led tech is all like 'nah babe this isn't your thing'

It's crazy that my zillion hours on the internet has left me with a simple, unshakeable belief:
If I see a product being advertised online, it is poor quality and should be avoided.

My wish for everyone in 2025 is that all creators can purge the word "content" from their lexicon
you're not making content my friend you are making vlogs, webcomics, sculpture, paintings, crafts, zines, music, etc etc just tell people what you make

More men need to tell us they've never been a fan of The Beatles. It shows an independence of thought but also profound intellectual insight; a refusal to run with the herd. I especially like to see it in response to someone expressing their love of the group. It's outspoken, contrary and brave.

Pro-tip: next time someone invites you to their ChatGPT webinar, ask them if they used ChatGPT to write the script for it.

IF THEY SAY YES: Ask them why you should go when you can ask ChatGPT for the same info yourself.

IF THEY SAY NO: Oh, so they don't trust ChatGPT to generate quality content?
