This is true but in most cases I don't want to rely on an implied execution order, I want to author files as totally isolated units of code with any assumptions encoded explicitly. So since I'm working from that assumption I'm okay having tools reorder imports

Yeah I said something about this in the last @tmir.reactiflux.com episode. Clearly indicating what context code runs in is a tough problem to solve, I'm not a huge fan of the use of directive, but there isn't really a clear alternative atm www.reactiflux.com/transcripts/...

(which is a legitimate point in security for people engaging in illegal activities, with the caveat that the law can be weaponized against moral actions. but they can choose to provide information at any time, so you have to decide if they'll protect _your_ illegal activities)

Telegram actively misleads as to its security capabilities -- it has e2e in DMs, to my understanding, but you have to enable it. Open-membership groups are totally unsecured. Their "security" is that they reject all requests from investigators and governments

Afaik WhatsApp has the next best claim, with e2e encryption pretty consistently throughout the app (I'm unsure of "communities" or group texts), but do you trust it not to be building a social graph of you you interact with?
