cleaner concept for rujara! 💍

sketch page lineup of my main three ocs, kirin, dragon, and xiezhi kemonomimis. this is for cartooning so i tried for slightly stronger shapes! also established more facial and fashion differences! each character has two exploratory chibi-ish poses as well. "cleaned up" (sketch on multiply layer lol) version of lorelai, exploratory colors, very warm, fire-like. oranges, reds, and browns. tiger stripes and swirls. she wears a cheongsam and an oversized military jacket.

duanwu dragon - a new adoptable up as part of a collab! 🐉
a dragon taur with six legs. her color scheme is seafoam green, orange, and red. she wears hanfu, jade bracelets, and a saddle that looks like a chinese fishing boat. she is adorned with zongzi, sticky rice dumplings, as well as hebao sachets, yansheng coins, and strings of twine. she is grasping an ornate oar, and she has two goldfish lantern friends!

a sepia-toned sketchpage with a bunch of bats! they are all presumably very tiny (or the objects are very large...), and are paired with household items. there is: - a button bat - a dew drop bat - a sugar cube bat - a thimble bat - a needle bat - a leaf bat - a teacup bat - a matchstick bat - a teabag bat - and an inkwell bat! there are also various smaller doodles of each character!

2022 piece of kaneidae's oc, caroline! she has a very big head, big paws, and huuuuge eyes, with a proportionally sort of odd body. this was the painting i first learned about the smudge tool! i still love the concept of this one, i hope to get to redo it one of these days! 2023 piece of romy, which is a character that belongs to keldel! they are a raccoon-like anthro with a cute woodsy outfit. this is when i first started packing foregrounds and backgrounds with details! 2023 piece of marcille from dungeon meshi! she is in her dungeon lord getup with lots of long blonde hair enveloping her. there are small "sticker" illustrations of some dungeon meshi monsters. i was still figuring out what i wanted my style to look like here. definitely another one to be redone! a character design commission for acocider! i believe the character's name is also cider. she wears a cottagey dress with lots of apple details and frills. still proud of this one, but i need to work on drawing shoes!

ah whatever - take a character design progression lineup! definitely a rough few first years... i have some even older ones but i don't really remember the months/years for them :p i think i've finally got her figured out
character design progress lineup of an oc, "celestine". in all four iterations, she is an eastern dragon kemonomimi with piebaldism, star motifs, curved horns, brown eyes, hooves, and some form of skirt. over time, her color scheme is desaturated and pushed more towards beige and pink. her outfit changes drastically from iteration two to iteration three, and then remains largely the same in iteration four. she is wearing fantasy qipao with long kimono-like sleeves, as opposed to her older, more modern attire. both newer designs are pattern and texture-heavy. the older designs are admittedly rudimentary, with the newer ones showcasing some refinement *i hope!!*

big tweaks for a super old character so that she fits my current sensibilities ⚜️

included a lot more text so you can see my process from original design -> last year's halfhearted redesign -> now! ^-^
scribble reference sheet of an original character, "taliesin". she has medium brown skin with non-segmental vitiligo, with pale patches of skin around her eyes and on her cheeks. she has coily hair flowing down her back and piled on top of her head; her hair is dyed platinum blonde. one of her arms and one of her legs has dark fur, these limbs are larger and more monstrous than the others. she has a very long lionlike tail. her outfit is that of a dilapidated royal, complete with chains on her wrists and ankles and a crown around her throat. various text is scribbled on the image as notes for the artist later - nothing especially important!
