1. The European Parliament’s attempt to ban plant-based foods from being sold as “sausages”, “burgers” etc is a direct response to livestock industry lobbying. This is a short thread on how utterly bleeding ridiculous it is. 🧵1/6

Positives - an amazing in-depth conversation on the writing and activist practice of the late David Graeber. Enormous thanks to @leninology.bsky.social + @lrb.co.uk for this.
Negatives - I welled up at least 4 times during it. We lost an enormous, kind & astute mind. 💔

RUTA stands in solidarity with the Latvian civil society, that is raising alarms and protesting against the concerning rise of global anti-gender and authoritarian politics fuelled by Russia's propaganda narratives
In Latvia, the opposition - right-wing, Russian speakers, populists - have united to push for withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention. They are backed by one of the governing coalition parties, the Farmers and Greens Union. Large civil society protests are expected tonight in Riga against the move.

A book as smart and engaging as its title. @clairedederer.bsky.social reflects not just on polanskis, wagners, and other picassos, but also on ourselves, redemption, love, and more.
