Excited to get my copy of Brigands & Breadknives tonight! Hopefully signed.
Just saw that a favorite author will be local in a couple weeks so I bought a ticket! Looking forward to the release of Brigands and Breadknives, I have adored the cozy legends and lattes world and can’t wait to read more.

I knew this was a tragedy before I read it but did not expect to be brought to tears. This story painted vividly the shallow life of the gilded age in NY while also showing great depth. So wild to think how differently we operate as a society and how so much the same.
Loved this book.

Day 40

Long walk and Pilates
Day 39 move more

Took my walk and committing to 10 minutes of leg day instead of 30.
Day 38 move more

Today is a struggle, debated with myself on my walk whether to make today a rest day and workout Saturday instead. I’m exhausted and it’s that time of the month 🤪 it’s still up for debate 😂

Going to see Sister Act the musical tonight with friends I have made in the last few months. Finally feeling like I have found a local community of friends with similar interests and they all read!!!! We are also meeting up Sunday for our 2nd book club meeting.

"For, dear me, why abandon a belief
Merely because it ceases to be true.
Cling to it long enough & no doubt
It will turn true again, for so it goes.
Most change we think we see in life
Is truths being in & out of favour."

"Waste Land" done. On to another 20th C American poet just as multilayered & revolutionary as Eliot. But Eliot's poems seem to bleed WWI trauma - the old rules & values feeling meaningless. Frost reads like mossy stone walls in a woodland that was once a field - old ways finding new meanings.

Margaret Atwood's “Book of Lives: A Memoir of Sorts” offers a 600-page reflection on her personal and creative journey.

In a conversation with AP, Atwood discusses the book, luck, feminism, the reason for imagining the worst and why she didn’t rebel against her parents.

Current physical reads & a puzzle I started with the kid.

Reread of Fahrenheit ( kid just finished a couple weeks ago and I am reading for a book club meetup this Sunday) haven’t read since the 90s.

The house of mirth I have been toggling between the physical and audio.
