And making literally anyone who already knows better just roll their eyes or actually get disgusted by it being depicted (Seeing a lot of Helldivers 2 current content feedback like this which is just offputting anyone who is remotely progressive now, like it's uncomfortable for them to play lol)

I just don't think satire that tries to paint these losers as "ridiculous people believing in disgusting ideologies" and ripping on them by making a world where their ideology is dominant is ever gonna work because now those losers will just make that world their own cause "it's cool to them" 😭

What your opinion on the women in your stories are, how fair you treat them next to the men and so on speaks a lot more than what quantity of them you can fit in to the story. Don't be allergic to the idea of just having a cool woman in a story who doesn't need to serve the plot, they can just exist

I'd wager a lot of these people who write these gay furry VN's are probably just fine with their representation of women in those stories but just need to be less insecure about it, and maybe need to stop seeing the characters as purely "you have to serve the narrative in some form". It sets you up.

I will never forget prominent people in these spaces who write gay furry VN's whose takeaway on Aggretsuko by the end of it was "Retsuko became just as bad and abusive as her boss is"
Some ARE just blatantly misogynistic, and it had NOTHING to do with "Did you include women in your VN's or not" lol

So if people's idea that "Furry VN's are made to cater primarily to gay men" is the default, then that's another can of worms, but to assume anyone who ever makes an innocuous joke about the entire medium as an "attack on the gay men of the community and accusing them of hating women" is just foul

I mean to be absolutely clear this whole outrage was over people inserting "gay" as a default factor into a discussion about the lack of respect for/presence for women as characters in Furry VN's as a whole. Not as love interests, not as the focus of the story, just their presence at all.

You have very positive examples of why women can still exist in these stories without taking away from the focus on gay men, so I'm not sure why you feel like that post and the current discussion slighted you? Maria's cool and an example of women still existing in these stories too despite the focus

Like I'm pretty sure this post wasn't even about anything more than "these VN's have predominantly man-filled casts and the one woman in the group often gets unjustifiedly hated on more than anyone else (see: many of the echoproject vn's)"

Have you considered that you can still have well written women in your stories about gay men, women who belong in the world without being a part of the love interests or even sexually involved with anyone in the cast and aren't meant to cater to "the straight male gaze"
