slowly figuring out life, one mistake at a time
It's especially bad when the video is HDR but the interface isn't so all the buttons look gray and hard to read
November 3, 2025 at 10:26 PM
but for real, I hate HDR so much. I don't care if it's "more realistic" or not. I don't want to be flash-banged by some random video as I'm doom scrolling

Every HDR video just takes me out of any immersion and ruins the video for me. Give me a way to opt-out across the board

"Definitely." I think I also pronounce it wrong. I just opt for "certainly" when needed

Everything now depends on how the republicans will respond

If they seek 'justice', then justice will be served and general order may be maintained

If they seek 'retribution'... then I fear that our democracy may be lost sooner than expected

The other mass shooting events that happen every week are against politically "unimportant" people (as hard as that is to say)

This time is different because it was a killing of a right-wing political figure, a member of the ruling party

A ruling party that is unpredictable and volatile
September 10, 2025 at 10:11 PM
The Minnesota assassinations were against the democrats, the non-ruling party

The attempt against Trump was unsuccessful and arguably helped him win the election

I don't claim to have the answers. But I do know a problem when I see one. Capitalism is the central problem with most everything we are seeing today.
September 10, 2025 at 3:52 AM
I know it may sound like some Marxist propaganda. I am not saying we have to have some revolution to fix things. But I also don't see how capitalism leads to anything but isolation and suffering
September 10, 2025 at 3:52 AM
I'm also not advocating for moving back to some "age of the past." I recognize that capitalism is the leading cause of the spread of democracy and the liberation of the working class from absolute tyranny

But we are now living under the tyranny of the dollar and need further progress
September 10, 2025 at 3:52 AM
Because of capitalism we are losing community places. Capitalism is replacing community with social media. Capitalism is commodifying everything we do. Capitalism dictates that you can't do anything without the expectation of spending money. Capitalism chokes us dry and blames us when we feel alone
September 10, 2025 at 3:52 AM
Where are we supposed to build a community if these community spaces are being closed?

You can make friends at your local dive, but are you going to make friends at your local Buffalo Wild Wings?
September 10, 2025 at 3:52 AM
Capitalism drives small establishments out and replaces them with brand-friendly corporate-controlled businesses

There are still many third-places like gay bars, but many are struggling and some even closing permanently
September 10, 2025 at 3:52 AM
There wasn't online dating back in the 1960s. The gay community had to be built around third places where people could meet each other and form friendships and relationships

But capitalism has been the death of so many third places. So many people don't have any "place" to go for community
September 10, 2025 at 3:52 AM
"First place" is home
"Second place" is work
"Third place" is where we build our community

Every generation previous has had third places such as religious centers, town halls, union halls, etc.

The gay community was built around third places like gay bars
September 10, 2025 at 3:52 AM
Keep in mind I'm not some sociologist, I'm just simply paraphrasing random things I've read before

But capitalism is the cause of the loneliness epidemic that everyone is feeling, not just the gay community

It's all tied back to the death of "third places"

...thinking about it, I'm sure this is not unique to just customer service

these same people have jobs (somehow) and I'm sure they act the same there too

Update: Best Buy came in clutch! Was about to resign myself to defeat until I realized that some were doing midnight releases. Didn't sleep much last night but I did it!

Walmart won the battle but I won the war
