Rogue One enjoys the melt up from all the other films being so bad
Where it succeeds is having a mostly understandable plot with stakes
But yes it fails because there's essentially no characters in the film besides the droid

This is it IMO he can't pay off the white walkers and so the book sits unfinished

He broke alot of storytelling conventions early in the series which made the books feel fresh however and because of which he made the story nigh on impossible to pay off in a satisfying way
