It's interesting because it's not really clear, although early formulations with "Lesbian" placed first were very commonplace in the late 70s/early 80s, even before the active phase of the AIDS Crisis. I would strongly suspect it had more to do with the prevalence of Second Wave Feminism.
How did the Lesbians score the first letter in "LGBTQ"? Did we just have a better agent?
