every time a tech worker says they hate AI because it "suppresses workers" it's very hard not to read the complaint as "now it's coming for me"

tech workers love automating other people's jobs, anyone who's shipped a successful LoB app has done it, but Special Lil Guy status is at risk

i’ve yet to hear a compelling counterargument to this point that isn’t just “i like to think about other people’s genitals”
when Michael Phelps was dominating US swimming there was endless coverage of all his genetic advantages. His wingspan, the way his body processed lactic acid, on and on and on. Nobody, not one person, floated the idea of kicking him out of the sport for genetic advantages
“I just have concerns about fairness in sport” - no, you don’t. There’s nothing fair about elite sports. You’re just looking for post hoc justification because we give you the ick

we are well past the point at which anyone who cannot identify bad faith like this is disqualified from commenting on it

the girl and her mother are basically screaming THIS IS A BAD FAITH ATTACK ON TRANS PEOPLE at the top of their lungs and if you can't see that you're stupid or lying
a lot of people debating the merits of that dogshit essay meanwhile the girl’s mom is retweeting demands to ban all trans people from teaching at any level. it’s forest for the trees shit

the jeff bezos owned washington post is the outlet responsible for making sure the primary complaint about AI was water. this may have been in part because jeff knew it was bullshit, so when amzn gets blowback they can easily prove their water footprint is small
not to be conspiratorial but the outlet that successfully pushed this line and made it the primary complaint was wapo

i’m genuinely so convinced all of this has been a planned operation by the student and her mother (who is commenting on this publicly, and associated closely with the republican party), and big far right propaganda account going all in on it. this is designed to oust trans people from public life

If I, a long-married cis-het white dude, can see this clear as day, none of the rest of y'all have any excuse.

Stand up and stand with our trans friends, family, and neighbors.
Either you understand that there is an organized campaign to push trans people out of public life with the explicit end goal of "morally mandating us out of existence" that is backed by some of the wealthiest individuals to have ever lived, or you're simply not equipped to grasp what's happening.

one of the problems I have with Democrats (and other critics) labeling these "war crimes" is that it accepts the underlying claim that the people being murdered are enemy combatants. They're not! it's just murder!
Fox News' Joey Jones justifies the US military killing survivors after an initial boat strike: "An enemy combatant does not have to have a gun to be a danger or a threat... if you leave anybody alive, they can signal and let others know what’s happening and they can also retaliate through radio."

Lol I love this puff piece pushed into the inky because of the Billy Penn article last week
Business owners and retail advocates say Germantown Avenue’s diverse mix of shops — from a century-old hardware store to an all-day coffee and cocktail bar newcomer — is what continues to draw customers to the downtown area.
How Chestnut Hill’s main street is staying relevant in the Amazon era
Despite broader economic challenges and a few restaurant vacancies, new and old Chestnut Hill businesses have found success.

I don't like Lane (or Pollack) but sorry this take is 100% correct.
The calendar is bad and dumb, anyone with a brain said it was bad and dumb last year and they did nothing and here we are.
Looks like CAA is having their people stump for a stupid take:

a few candidates have talked about this but any Dem planning to run in 2028 should make it explicit: the next DOJ will, in fact, go after you if you’re funding this awful ballroom, or any other pay to play deals you make with this administration
Dimon on why JPMorgan Chase is not funding WH Ballroom:
We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.

I can't scream loudly enough that the people leading HHS right now are liars. RFK Jr. Marty Makary. Vinay Prasad. They are liars. And the lies they are telling are the lies eugenicists like themselves tell.
NEW: The F.D.A. announced in an internal memo that 10 children died "because of" the Covid shot. Other experts want to see proof.

“This is a profound revelation,” Dr. Prasad's memo said. “For the first time, the U.S. F.D.A. will acknowledge that Covid-19 vaccines have killed American children.”

A *huge* vaccine victory. I've been writing on this for years; Australia has seen remarkable progress in cervical cancer prevention with the HPV vaccine. I love seeing science triumph like this.
Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer.

Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!
newsGP - Australia set for world-first cervical cancer elimination
Vaccination programs have played a key role, and GPs remain ‘instrumental’ in boosting screening rates to reach the 2035 target.
