Physics sure is cool. That's why I do it every day. And I have cats. And also a family.

It's only ever a series of ticks.

Pitch is all in your head.

Kinetic theory of gas demo! Pair it with this guy in the picture. Then you can push the sensor down, decreasing volume, and you see the force (and pressure) go up!

My son(7yo) got Gravitrax for Christmas. We have been having a blast inventing our own tracks. He wanted a 3-way race which used the flip-flop and the X.

It's nothing special but it's fun watching him build spatial reasoning and a joy to run the marbles down the tracks.

10/10 gift.

This isn't usually what people call me but in the most profound sense, they're not wrong.

I didn't believe it, so I tried it. See the results below.

Sorry for lack of axes labels, made it on my phone. X-axis is year and y-axis is number of women in Congress.

I'm not trying to say that women don't experience misogyny. I'm just trying to say that I don't believe the statistic you cite actually means what you say it does.

I then asked GPT to give me a description of the diagram that could be used to generate the image. It gave a lovely description. I then used that description to generate the image.

And....

Behold, the Circular Motion Surup!

Two more rewrites, two more unsuccessful attempts. This time we got lots of Circular Parths, and a singular Hole...somewhere. *sigh*

I then asked for one with fewer labels and was more 2D. Things to note: There is a puck. There is the indication of circular motion. There is something hanging in the middle. There is a table. And none of it makes any sense.
December 11, 2024 at 3:00 AM
My first attempt was with the prompt "A puck moves in a circle on a table top. There is a string attached to the puck on one end. The other end passes through a hole in the table and attaches to a weight." Unfortunately, this was the best result I got.

I tried to get GPT to generate a version of this diagram. What follows are my attempts.

You can tell the software has not had attention in a while. These are the options for "How did you hear about us."

Your animation looks awesome though and I'd love to play around with the software!

All geometry is really just algebra. And the worse you are at the geometry, the harder the algebra.

Not wrong, just ugly and insightful.

A bead is placed on a rod. The rod rotates at a constant angular rate. The bead begins at rest near, but not at, the pivot point. Here are two ways of viewing the motion of the bead. The left shows the motion of the bead from an inertial frame. The right shows the motion from the frame of the rod.

Constant velocity buggy found. You passed the #modphys test. =)

But really, these activities are great. Do you set these all up or do you ever have students set these up for each other?
