My alternate number is 41, because it was assigned to me one year of HS baseball. I wasn’t any good, but it’s not a number in common use, so I enjoy its uniqueness, and it sort of serves as a reminder that I’ve dealt with adversity in sports.

I always wear 16 if it’s available. I wore it once in little league and had a great season, which happened to be around the time Mike Blowers, wearing 16, hit like three grand slams in a month for the Mariners.

I wouldn't be surprised if the prepping was the thing that gave them joy, so they might be repulsed by people who don't share in that specific thing and want to just get right to the enjoying of having the decor in the house?

I think there's an easy contrast with Griffey, who undoubtedly is a family-first guy, too.
A big difference, though, is that Griffey really struggled with the expectations early on, before his MLB career took off, and he was well-connected to players and history once he got himself right.

So on the one hand, I feel kind of bad for him, but it's also hard to feel bad for a guy who was offered and took the contract with the Rangers.

I haven't watched the documentary yet (you've almost sold me on it), but the impression that I've gotten is that his parents and family have been really important to him, so he could provide for them, but I think he was probably unprepared for the fame and pressures of big money.

I’m not sure I even believe myself there… the voters who would give a favorable reaction to Trump over that are probably too far gone to be reached by Democrats anyway?

I think I’m probably galaxy-braining this, but footage of Mamdani calling Trump “fascist” could be a desirable outcome for Trump to have attack ad material against the Democrats as a brand, not unlike how they always make Pelosi a boogeywoman?
