It's some kind of material mix that adds a touch more weight and uses less plastic. Helps my sustainability goals: less plastic and a more premium finish so people are less likely to immediately throw them away.

I have a soft spot for Scrubs, primarily because it was so dedicated to not being hyperbolic about the medical procedures it depicted. But it get a black mark because the whole will-they-won't-they thing with JD and Elliott got super exhausting.
