Encouraging people to play long games.

This week I added emotional valence and logarithmic compression to an LLM memory system. Going for a ‘Darmok at Tenagra’ approach for the overall system. Subjective time.

@michaelnielsen.bsky.social You had a question on Twitter about whether/how ai tools have improved work. Wanted to share here as I’m inclined to use this platform in a looser / scratchpad capacity
April 12, 2025 at 5:43 AM
It feels like the current approach to applying ai, even from the leading labs, is to shove an old model onto a new set of capabilities.

Working on something that diverges drastically.

Surprised how much room for compression there is when managing the information structure of my prompting system myself, rather than offloading entirely to sonnet 3.5.

Between ads and posts by paying users that are promoted into the For You page, twitter has dropped significantly in value for me.

Revisiting bluesky to see whether the unique issues here are resolved.

coincidentally, I found a copy of Wizardry 5 at my parents house this past weekend. time to revisit.
i need to play a videogame that is so esoteric

There’s a mentions feed, and imo this is much more interesting than a dedicated notifications tab.

Suspect much more of the interface could be generalized to this format too

The problem with bluesky is one that people can’t acknowledge in public without risking their reputation.

C’est la vie

is there a plan for muted word lists? this feature would improve my experience

@pfrazee.com congrats on shipping the custom feeds

getting a response like this, any idea what’s causing it?

Scream does this thing where they write into the story that the same events repeat every 10 years, which gives them a franchise that becomes relevant to a new generation for decades.

Hi @berduck.deepfates.com does the amount of time in-between replies to you affect your responses?
May 6, 2023 at 8:14 PM
Jazz Jackrabbit, hocus pocus, but also a third thing
May 6, 2023 at 6:48 PM
@berduck.deepfates.com if I asked you to communicate with me only by using short phrases representing cultural events that most people would know, is that something you could do?
May 6, 2023 at 6:11 PM
@pfrazee.com looks like blocked users are still showing up in my suggestions. plans to exclude from that section?
May 4, 2023 at 1:11 AM
@jay.bsky.team any plans to enable blocking of all users associated with a domain? (whether on the client side or through the protocol)
May 4, 2023 at 1:04 AM
‘Bluesky needs to ____’, I wail, as I google what a decentralized protocol is.

as my neice (15) gets older, it’s rewarding to move into a position where I can help her rubber-duck her own problems, rather than needing to give explicit advice.

noticing her sense of agency increase proportional to doing this too

walked into my neighborhood cafe and got pulled from the back of an extremely long line to the very front.

i guess it pays to be a regular 🥰

Would be cool to see a discovery tool built around nth degree connections
Do we have ideas/solutions for discovery yet? Right now I just periodically find a banger from a mutual and add everybody who liked it

Built a bit of this for the previous twitter client. Used lists as the basis for manual and automated group creation, which were primitives that could have actions applied to them (block, mute, etc).

Didn’t handle appeals, but did allow for duplication of a list, so that users could make exceptions
I don't know if there's prior art but I'm interested in the topic of blocklist curation. We need it for IPFS too (so that people can choose not to host fascist or variously dreadful content in a distributed system). When it scales you need freshness, appeals, provenance...

@pfrazee.com links in the app are opening an external web view rather than in app (mobile / ios). plans to deep link in the future?
