Great introduction on pushing NMR to its limits! Last week, Dieter Suter (TU Dortmund) was our guest in a joint colloquium of the IoP and the #HYPMOL consortium. Dieter taught us the benefits of optical pumping for increased sensitivity and selectivity in #NMR of extremely small sample volumes.

This year, we collaborated with the Johanneum Stiftung in Chemnitz to spark enthusiasm for the #MINT area among the next generation of researchers. Together, we assembled robots and created programs to automate their movements 🤖.

It's approaching again: as during previous years, the IoP also organises its summer school for pupils in 2025. If you are in grade 10 or 11, you like science, and you would like to spend two days doing experiments and hearing the latest news from the research of our professors, join us!

During our physics colloquium last week, we heard a great talk by Gaede prize laureate Manuel Gruber Uni Duisburg-Essen on Spin and Orbital Degree of Freedom in Molecules. What an interesting overview of effects and how to measure them!

CS is situated at the intersection of the natural and engineering sciences (esp. physics), computer science/ modelling, and data science. Computer simulations have been established as a third pillar alongside experimentation and analytical theory in addressing problems in scientific contexts.

Whether it's mobility and the energy transition, new materials, molecular design, robotics, artificial intelligence, or quantum computers. The master's programme in Computational Science (CS) responds to these new demands by teaching students efficient methods and strategies for problem-solving.
