Your Black Friday reminder that in 75% of U.S. industries, a smaller number of companies now control more of the business than they did twenty years ago. We must stop the monopolization of America. Shop small if you can, please.

Why are Trump-supporting oligarchs spending a fortune to defeat @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social?

Because they fear Mamdani's people-powered movement will end their plunder and finally make NYC affordable for the working class.

Zohran is charting a path forward where billionaires have less power.

America's Sleeping Giant roared when police attacked civil rights marchers.

And after tens of thousands of young Americans were killed in Vietnam.

And when Nixon tried to cover up Watergate.

Today it roars once more — at the tyrant in the Oval Office.

#TheOrphanage is one of those movies that *terrified* me on a first viewing, but once you know the twist the genre changes from horror to drama. It's a turn-off for some folks, but I love it so. Also, the knock knock game scene is one of the creepiest things ever put on film.
Don your mask for the treasure hunt because we're discussing J.A. Bayona's #TheOrphanage (2007) along with Spanish horror scholar (and returning guest) @shelaghrowanlegg.bsky.social

Health insurance costs jumped for workers & employers in 2025.

This will get worse if the GOP refuses to extend ACA subsidies.

Meanwhile, the seven largest health insurance companies made a combined $71B in profits in 2024.

Still not sure we need Medicare for All?

Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are easy to underestimate because they act like idiots, but they should not be treated as idiots.

They are dangerous fascists with power and a plan.

Democrats must act, and Republicans with any dignity left need to wake up

15 years ago the Supreme Court decided corporations are people under the First Amendment.

Today, sold-out politicians block progress on all fronts to appease their corporate donors.

Citizens United is among the worst decisions in history. It corrupts our system every day.

Increase in productivity since 1979: 87%

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.

Is it any wonder why Trump and many of the corporations bowing down to him are so staunchly anti-union?

IMPORTANT PERSPECTIVE: What I have not seen anyone discussing is that Nexstar pulling Kimmel, forcing ABC’s hand, comes as Nexstar is leading the way for the industry on trying to get FCC approval for media consolidation. www.poynter.org/business-wor...
