This morning was the opening day of my new cafe here in Galicia! It’s been many months of renovations and bureaucracy, but now the fun part begins. Going to have the proper inauguration Sunday afternoon, with live music, when we fire up the attached barbecue shack.
I actually don’t think this is entirely unworkable? Hexagon is just a 2D projection of a cube, it decomposes into 3 squares quite nicely.

Of course, they are a bit squished when viewed in 2 dimensions, and they don’t form straight lines… but otherwise they pretty much act like a squares grid

This is very playable for an early access release. Some rough edges of course, but I had a good time with the first few runs - worth a look if you are into FTL/roguelite/deckbuilders
🚀 Command Deck is OUT NOW in Early Access! 🚀

Jump into the captain's seat and get ready for intense spaceship battles!

Play it now on Steam 👇

You know, I've had this blasted theme song stuck in my head for about the last 20 years, and it finally dawned on me that it's probably meant to be a heavily-synthed version of the Soviet national anthem

Man, why don’t my dev tools work like this? I really have to find some time to sink into live coding IDEs…
This is some of the hardest shit I've seen in my life

After a macOS update, apparently I'm being protected from my own previously-installed system extensions. I feel... safer?

I think Game of Thrones fails every single one of those? And yet HBO+ subscriptions are still purchasable by credit card.

Video games once again are in the hot seat at the thin end of the censorship wedge

Oh hey, looks like we’re headed back to the early 2000’s, when the credit card companies used to explicitly enumerate the acts you could/not show in a porno…
Valve just updated their Steam rules to ban content that “may violate rules set by payment processors or banks.” Sounds boring. It’s not. It’s the quiet normalization of financial censorship and it’s going to hurt LGBTQ+ games and devs

I've been in something of a creative rut lately, so I whipped up a quick entry for this weekend's #ludumdare. Ended up more style than substance, but it's nice to finish something quick for once - swiftcoder.github.io/fathom

We can't save the world with games, but we can be part of why it is worth saving. We can't save the world with art, but we can brighten it. We can't save the world with play, but we can be a reminder of our humanity. We can't save the world with joy, but we can be a reprieve before the fight.

As someone who has never previously been tempted to work in the defence industry, with everything going on I find myself wondering whether us tech/engineering folks in the EU shouldn't be redirecting some of our efforts into domestic weapons development programs

Maybe a decade ago, there was this really glossy website with a designer's re-imagining of MacOS, where they'd made the whole thing a set of interactive blocks that could be mix-and-matched with data flowing between them. Does anyone remember the designer/website?

here's a fun one: my ISP seems to be blocking cdn.bsky.app.

I can load images just fine over 4G, but on my local network although I can resolve the DNS name, I can't actually ping the CDN, and the traceroute terminates in an IP block belonging to TELEFONICA DE ESPANA...
