As I raise my glass this New Year’s Eve, I offer this toast: Resist.

Resist the temptation to yield to those who lie, to those who will use the many in pursuit of their own power.

In the next year, the propagandists will be emboldened. They will twist the truth. They will bend the rules. It falls to us to hold them to account. And to hold onto a vision for the future.

Drink a cup of kindness

In the new year, our sense of hope and optimism will be tested.

Some factions are already trying to convince us that “Canada is broken”. It is not, though it is due for repairs. Next door, Trump taunts Canada as the 51st state of America and a consequential tariff war. 1/5
