Today was a day of firsts for me. 1st time filing an IFR flight plan, 1st time taking off into the soup, 1st time flying VFR on top, 1st time going missed for real, and 1st time using autopilot to minimums. And for a brief moment, I flew in a cloud sandwich with a rain filler. What a day!

It’s a good thing my kiddo doesn’t have a Bluesky account because every message would be to @jasonrosewell.bsky.social asking for more aircraft in @infiniteflight.com 🤣 I’ve fended off three just this morning.

So after a mistake this summer trapped me on top, I’ve decided to spend the next several months focused on getting my IFR ticket. Different flight school, moving from high to low wing, different CFII. Why not shake up everything all at once? 🤷 #avgeek

Took some time yesterday to get in some much needed air therapy and came across an Air Tractor. I’ve never been this close to one but holy crap are they huge! #Aviation #AvGeek #PilotsofBluesky

IMC on an IFR flight plan for the first time today. Thrilling!
Reality check: my CFI is Army Reserve as said Hegseth scares the shit out of him and fears his upcoming deployment could be exposed because he’s a lazy jackass.
Finale: sticking my head in between the clouds.

Flew my first low wing after years of flying only high wing Cessnas. I learned that (1) glass cockpits are amazing and (2) that dihedral wings screw with my use of them as a horizontal reference check. Need more data but it was definitely fun.

Anyone have tips or tricks that would be helpful to know before transitioning from a high to low wing aircraft? Changing flight schools and moving from Cessnas to Pipers next week. Figured I should get comfortable before I start working on my instrument rating in them.
